Sorry For The Delay I Was Choking On Something
Over the past couple of epic Boston losses (Patriots to Giants, Bruins to Flyers, ect) I have always kind of written a heartfelt post about how this brings me back to the times when Boston didn't win everything all the time, or in the Bruins case when they lost to the Canadiens they had made me a fan again. This collapse this season by the Red Sox is very different. So, be prepared for nothing, but angry rants all day long. Some might not be about the Red Sox, but all I know is they pissed me off, and I was supposed to play golf today and now it's raining, which somehow I believe is also the Red Sox fault.
The worst thing about this Red Sox team is that they aren't even all that likable. Did one person thing after they loss... "Oh, those poor guys"? I sure as fuck didn't. I thought, those overpaid, fat, pieces of shit, go home and slit your wrists.
Where the hell do I even begin. Well the season ended very poetically. Crawford should've caught that ball, I don't want to hear anything different. Papelbon shouldn't be letting up doubles when up 2 strikes on a guy by throwing a pitch right down the middle, but Crawford should've caught that last ball. Then again, Crawford hitting higher then .255 with 18 SBs. How the fuck do you get only 18 SBs? Only once in his entire career (when a full time player) has he had less then 46 SBs, and now you drop to 18? Go fuck yourself.
To be honest the rest of the hitters I am not overly mad at. Youk got hurt, Pedroia had a nice year, as did Gonzalez and Ortiz. Ellsbury could easily be the MVP, though Granderson should probably get it now. The catching situation well... was what he thought it would be, and the same can basically be said about the RF spot. Plus its hard to fault an offense that was near the top in ever major category.
The pitching though, Jesus Christ. Beckett was great 90% of the year, but I am sick of saying that. It's a trend, and I don't like it. Lester really let me down. I really thought this was going to be the year when he was put himself in that top 5 SPs in all of baseball he didn't. Sure, he pitched well last night, but if he had pitched well in any of the 3 games before it the Red Sox are at worst playing today. Buchholz got hurt, so in my book he gets a bye, and I guess the same can be said for Dice-K, but as far as I am concerned I wouldn't exactly be pissed if he did the honorable thing and jumped on his sword.
Then there is Lackey. Want to make a team unlikable, just put Lackey on it. Not only is he the worst pitcher of all time. He is a terrible person. His interviews make me think, "hmmm maybe I should just be a full time Royals fan". While his face makes me think abortions really should be legal. He is the fucking worst person in baseball, and I hope only the worst possible things for him the rest of his life.
Then the bullpen. Fatass Jenks didn't workout...shocking. Didn't see that one coming a mile a way. To be honest I have never been a big Papelbon fan. I don't like that he compares himself to Rivera, because well he isn't even close. He is good, but thinks he is way better then he is, and seems like he lets up way too many hits. Bard just fucking sucked out the stretch, I still for whatever reason like him, but I sure as fuck don't trust him to be the closer going into next season like I thought I would. Fuck the rest of the bullpen with the exception of Aceves, who should get a life time pass to play for the Red Sox as long as he wants.
This team just wasn't very likable. Papelbon is kinda a douche, so is Beckett. I am so fucking sick of Wakefield. I just read a comment about him coming back next year, so that he can chase some other record. Whatever Wake, thanks for all your service, but I am sick of terrible pitching, which includes you. We already went on the rant about Lackey, but yea unlikeable to say the least. I hate Lowrie, I want to like Crawford, but that's like trying to like to prison inmate that is currently plowing you in the ass... It's just not going to happen.
We will have posts all winter about how they will mold this team back into a winner, but for now I am going all Philly on this team. Fuck them, no free booze, no autographs, and anytime anyone sees them they should stop in the street, crouch down, take a shit in their hand, stand back up, and throw it directly in their face. Then say, "That's what you did to my September".
