Jets Dump Derrick Mason

Derrick Mason has been traded to the Texans for a late round pick. There has been a bunch of drama around Mason and the Jets. He was basically benched for the first half in the game against the Patriots for complaining about offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. I have also read reports that he wasn't the only one.

The Jets are denying these problems, and are more sticking with Mason was just having a hard time picking up the offense. Maybe he did, maybe it is a lot like Ochocinco, but this offense is a mess and Mason is probably better off going to the Texans. Matt Schaub is a better QB then Mark Sanchez, and the Texans are just a better offense.

The only concern here is you're a Texans fan is if this means the Andre Johnson injury is worse then first thought. I don't think that's why the deal was made, I think the Texans just saw a good WR to add to their core for a late round pick.

Mario Williams Out For Season

Texans linebacker Mario Williams is out for the season after tearing a pectoral muscle in Sunday’s 25-20 loss to Oakland.

The Texans got a lot of shit when drafting Williams over Reggie Bush, but it has been an excellent move as he holds the Texans record with 53 sacks. Also, Wade Phillips moved him to OLB instead of DE.

This should make every AFC South team give a big sigh of relief as he is the best player and most feared player on the team. Without him, I'm going to say this will be Tennessee's division.

NFL Injury Update

James Harrison has broken orbital bone and will most likely miss a couple of weeks. The outside linebacker will undergo a surgical procedure Wednesday for a broken orbital bone around his right eye. He came back and played in that games where it happened and knowing how much of a tough guy he is I would assume he will be back sooner then later even though the injury timeline is indefinite.

This is obviously a huge hit to the Steelers and to Harrison who has been getting in better game shape every day. Harrison has been getting double digit sacks every year. The Steelers expect him back by the Patriots game.

Andre Johnson will be out 3 weeks with strained calf.
This will kill the Texans offense unless Arian Foster steps up in a big way. The Texans offense, much like the Lions thrives off a QB/WR connection, so if it's gone, they are fucked.
