David Ortiz Wants To Come Back

Ortiz says he would like to come back to the Red Sox, and I don't have a problem with it if he does. Ortiz knows the deal, he's a DH and the Red Sox are really the only ones that would give him the amount that would be in his ballpark, I don't think the Yankees would, so as much as he pretends not to need the Sox, he needs them as much as they need him.

I see two options with David, the 1st is re-sign him to a short term 2 year with a 3 year option for about 7 million a year or let him go and start Wil Middlebrooks. I know the Captain was pessimistic about assuming triple AAA players can transition to the minors, but from everything I'm reading he's ready to go. Why not roll the dice with him? If he works out fine, if not, fuck it trade for someone or get someone the following offseason.

I don't believe the Red Sox will be in the Albert Pujols/ Prince Fielder sweepstakes so we can let go of that dream.

But sure, if Ortiz wants to come back, why not, he has good production and seemed to do well batting after AGon.

Ortiz Wants Out Of Boston

Ortiz came out and basically said he wants out of Boston after having to deal with all this drama.

"There's too much drama, man," Ortiz said in the interview. "There's too much drama. I have been thinking about a lot of things. I don't know if I want to be part of this drama for next year."

"[The Yankees are] a good situation to be involved in (when asked he is would consider them). Who doesn't want to be involved in a great situation where everything goes the right way? ... They lost just like we did, they just went to the first round of the playoffs. I ain't heard nobody coming out killing everybody just because they lost."

"We had that when we won the World Series in 2004," he said. "We had that when we won the World Series in 2007. Beer in the clubhouse, it's always been there. Video games, that's always been there; guys eating fried chicken, that's always been there (WEEI)."

Can you really blame him for saying any of this stuff? Watch there will be a ton of backlash against Ortiz now, but I really can't blame him for saying any of this stuff. The entire team is being ripped apart. They ran his manager out of town, and the GM that found him out of town as well. You got reporters blaming Beckett for ruining Lester, fights in the locker room, owners possibly spreading rumors, and even reports fighting with reporters about who slept with who.

At this point I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting out. What the media is doing to this team is over the top to say the least, but this is Boston and this is what happens when the Red Sox lose.

So, now all we hear is how Ortiz is a terrible person and everyone is glad to see him gone. The same will probably be said when Papelbon walks out the door. Good, who needs them right? Who needs 30 HRs and 100 RBIs? Who needs 35-40 saves every year? Wait another year when we run that borderline MVP Ellsbury out of town (who won comeback player of the year today). But fuck it, Boston's angry.

Remember when we used to make fun of the Yankees, because they had A-Rod drama and Jeter drama? Now we got that with the Red Sox. We have turned this team (rightfully so or not) in the National Enquirer, and it's just really getting sad to watch.

Here's a question sports fans...

If Ortiz leaves because of this bullshit, and Papelbon skips town will any free agents want to come here? I know MONEY TALKS, but how much will all of this affect the Red Sox being able to bring in players/managers?
