Spurrier Replaces Starting QB Garcia With Connor Shaw
Connor Shaw, a sophomore, replaces fifth-year senior quarterback Stephen Garcia, who has struggled this season. Spurrier said that barring injury, Shaw will play the entirety of USC's game against Kentucky on Saturday, with Garcia serving as the backup.
Garcia has had a checkered past with Spurrier and the gamecocks and with 9 interceptions and 4 TDs, Spurriers hands are tied. Steve Spurrier who relies on a heavy pass game, has never been able to utilize Garcia in that manner and since Shaw is more of passing QB this might be exactly what USC needs.
It's a risky move by the Old Ball Coach figuring Garcia has won over the crowd with a performance in the SEC Championship game, but with them not going anywhere this year, I don't mind grooming the sophomore.
It's Bama's division anyways.
