Broncos Sticking With Tebow

The Bronco's are sticking with Tim Tebow this weekend against Oakland after he put on a stellar performance of 18/39 for 172yard with 1 TD and 1 Int, rushed for 63, got sacked 7 times for -55, fumbled. It's almost beating a dead horse to say that this guy shouldn't be starting at QB anymore. Sure he may have won a couple games in the 4th, sure he had an unbelievable career at Florida, but this guy can't throw accurately, can't read a defense and this isn't college.

The Broncos would be much better served drafting a Landry Jones or trading for a Ryan Mallett this offseason then sticking with Tebow passed this year. I honestly believe if Tebow switched to righty and learned how to properly throw with the arm he would be a better qb, his windup is far too long. Kyle Orton will be starting after this weekend.

Breaking News: Julian Edelman Arrested

"According to a report in the Boston Globe, Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman will be arraigned on charges of indecent assault and battery in Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday. Officers were called to a Back Bay nightclub around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning to investigate reports of a possible assault. Edelman was arrested on a single count of indecent assault and battery, according to Boston police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll. Edelman was taken into custody but posted bail and was released by police (WEEI)."

Right now the story is that Edleman was at some Halloween party and was dancing with some chick and reached under her dress. This caused a fight between Edleman and some guy that was there. All 3 people were kicked out of the bar, and police arrived at the scene and arrested Edleman.

It is too early to know what's true or not true, but with Edleman only having 3 catches for 25 yards this year I'd say he is probably going to be cut rather quickly. The Patriots have way too many similar WRs on this roster as it is, and if this is true will be a back eye for the Patriots and I would expect that they wouldn't put up with this.

If we get more news on the story we'll update the post.

How I Feel As A Patriots Fan: Concerned

I am not concerned about the Patriots making the playoffs. I'm not even concerned about them winning the division, but I am concerned about this team being a Super Bowl team.

As a Patriots fan we can keep holding on to this team being a bend, but don't break defense. Sure, I'll play along and even understand it, but sometimes (like yesterday) it isn't good enough. When the Patriots did that on-side kick yesterday I thought it spoke volumes about how this team feels about it's defense. Every time the Steelers got the ball they would drive. Maybe not leading to touchdowns, but they got first downs. In my eyes, I didn't feel at any point the Patriots were going to get the Steelers offense off the field.

So, from that standpoint I don't blame Belichick for doing what he did. It really didn't bother me as much as it seems to be bothering everyone else. WHAT DOES BOTHER ME is the moves he has been making for years now. The trading of draft picks to stockpile later picks. Not fixing glaring problems (pass rush) either through the draft or free agency. Cutting people for seemingly no reason. Can anyone really sit here and tell me the Patriots weren't a better defense with Bodden, Meriweather (I know I hate him too), and James Sanders? They wouldn't be a lot better, but they are more talented then the undrafted guys were are throwing out their in our secondary.

I believe Belichick is one of the best coaches in the game, but his role as GM has been pretty questionable for awhile now. I know, there are probably Patriots fans that just threw their computer across the room, because God forbid you question their moves, but I am still not over the fact of how much better this team could be if they drafted better and made better free agent pickups. Coaching can get you so far, at some point you need talent. When they did that onside kick, it was because they knew they couldn't stop the talent on the Steelers.

Now, I agree with Rob the problem yesterday was the offense. If they don't score 35+ point they will most likely lose. There was 2 reason why the Patriots offense got shut down. First was the Steelers excellent gameplan of playing press coverage on the Patriots WRs, which threw off the timing of the offense. The Patriots don't have deep threats, so you throw off the timing, game over. The other thing that threw off their timing was the fact the Steelers seemingly had the ball the whole game. You keep an offense off the field, especially a timing offense like the Patriots, and they just aren't going to be as sharp.

Can they turn this around? Sure, the offense can be THAT good when the timing is on. I don't think there are many teams that can do what the Steelers did, so there is a chance they go far, but if you ask me how I feel as a Patriots' fan today I'll tell you that I'm concerned.

Patriots Cut Leigh Bodden

Leigh Bodden Was cut today by the Patriots, and this just doesn't make any sense to me at all. Bodden, from what I can tell, has been playing pretty well , and it's not like the Patriots don't need help in the defensive backfield, so I just really don't get it. To be honest I really don't get a lot of the moves the Patriots make. They seem to workout for the most part, but it doesn't bother me any less. Like I still don't understand why we cut Meriweather AND James Sanders. Like why do we need to redo the who defensive backfield all at once.

Again, I have no idea why they made the cut. Maybe he is having off the field problems, or maybe he is terrible and I just never noticed, but I don't like this at all.

I Think T.O. Could Still Be Productive (UPDATED)

I know T.O. is a lockerroom killer and is coming off a serious injury and is a billion years old, however, I think that T.O. could still be very useful for a team. Right now, he's probably better than 60% of the receivers today and last year in Cincy he nearly got 1000 yards with no one throwing him the ball.

No team went to his workout the other day, I don't know what that means for him but it can't be great. You're telling me that a team like Tennessee, Seattle or even Baltimore could use another WR? Hell, if you put him on the Patriots today he would be way more effective than Chad Ochocinco.

Rumors are an Arena Football League team has offered him a contract, but I don't believe he takes that as that would kill his pride.

***UPDATE***

While I agree that Owens could still be a decent WR, we would need him to stay alive to find out...

TMZ has obtained the 911 call placed moments before Terrell Owens was rushed to an L.A. hospital for a possible pill overdose on October 6 -- and according to Terrell's assistant, the NFL and reality star was trying to kill himself.

During the call, placed at 11:02 PM, the dispatcher asks the assistant on the phone, "Was this a suicide attempt?" -- and she responds, "Yes, I believe so."

Hmmm, that probably won't help with teams wanting to sign him.

Bears Cut Chris Harris

About a week ago Chris Harris requested a trade, and today the Bears turned around and cut him. Harris and the Bears have had a really odd relationship. He was on the Bears when they went to the Super Bowl against the Colts and had a pick in that game. He then left in 2007 for the Panthers, but then last year the Bears brought him back. He started the season as the starting safety, but then pulled his hamstring and loss his job to a rookie.

I don't know if he lost a step or whatever, but one would think with all the safety problem the Patriots have had they would at least have to take a look. I mean this guy did have 70 tackles last year and 5 picks, so it's hard for me to believe he is that bad at age 29.

Would Peyton Manning Stop The Colts From Taking Luck?

So if the Colts lose out and get the 1st pick would Peyton Manning stop them from drafting Andrew Luck. In Manning's eyes he probably doesn't want to see him there and thinks he has 3-4 more good years in Indianapolis.

I think if anything this year proves that Peyton Manning is the most important player to his team than any other player in the NFL (Nothing against Tom Brady, but it's true). The Colts are horrifically bad this year, so it comes to the question, do you think the Colts should still build around Peyton and roll the dice that another QB will come along in a couple years or move on.

I think that if the Colts do get the number 1 pick they may be better served trading it for a shit load of picks and still build around Peyton. When healthy he will still be a top 5 qb at the worst and I don't see much difference between QBs like Luck and Landry Jones or Matt Barkley in the NFL, so there will always be guys.

"Suck For Luck" Working Wonders For Dolphins

The big rumor going around today is that Bill Cowher is ready to get back into football and has his eye set on the Miami Dolphins. The rumors seem to be coming from Dan Marino, who works with Bill Cowher, so I am believing it is true. There is also another rumors that says Gruden could also be interested, but he just signed a 5 year deal with ESPN. Not that he couldn't get out of it, but he really seems to love what he does.

I hate the Steelers, always have, always will, but I have always respected Bill Cowher. I think he set that franchise up so well, and I think in a lot of way they are still feeling the affects of his presence there. Not to take away from their current coach, but I see Cowher a lot like a see a Belichick... A franchise changer.

We all know all these coaches are interested because Luck is slated to be a great NFL QB. On top of that, you get to live in Miami, which never hurts. I have written a little bit about this before, but I really don't think the Dolphins are all that far from being a good team.

Let's just say for a second that they get Luck. They already have a base of a good offensive line with Long, and Pouncey. Daniel Thomas has shown flashes of being able to carry the load, and I think if this team had a QB Reggie Bush would be a lot better (not great, because he is the most over hyped player ever, but better). Plus, you got a good WR with Marshall.

The defense needs a lot of work, but you're getting Bill Cowher. He should give them a great game plan, and you just know he will be a hell of a recruiter in the free agent market.

All I am saying is look out for the Dolphins if everything falls in place. The one team that could mess this all up is the Colts.

Redskins Season Is Over

Not that we didn't already know that, but this news today that Santana Moss (broken hand) will miss 5-7 weeks, and running back Tim Hightower (torn ACL) will be out the rest of the season should basically end anyone's hope. Also, for anyone that cares Rex Grossman is in the hospital for the next 48 hours with pneumonia.

Without Hightower, who rushed for 321 yards and a touchdown on 84 carries this year, the Redskins now will rely on Ryan Torain and Roy Helu to take the bulk of the rushing attempts.

Moss is the bigger blow. He was their 2nd leading receiver and really the only guy on this team offensively who could explode. They will not have a core of Gaffney, Stallworth, and Armstrong to carry them along.

You wonder if this is a team that should try out Terrell Owens.

NFL Power Rankings

1. Packers (1) - Defense causing some concerns, but when your team hasn't lost since Dec 10th 2010, and your QB is on pace to set the completion record things are going well.

2. Patriots (2) - Moved up a spot, because the Ravens pooped themselves. Big game vs. Steelers.

3. Steelers (6) - Took care of business at Arizona. Big Ben looks on top of his game, but where is Mendenhall (13 carries 32 yards)?

4. Saints (7) - Looked like LSU playing URI when they crushed the Colts.

5. 49ers (9) - Didn't play this week, but they are 5-1.

6. Ravens (2) - What the hell was that about. Run the ball!

7. Texans (13) - Give them credit, they blew the doors off the Titans and without Andre Johnson.

8. Jets (12) - Big win over the Chargers. Still don't think this team makes the playoffs.

9. Chargers (5) - Tough loss to the Jets, but at 4-2 they can fix mistakes, but Rivers needs to finally show up.

10. Bills (11) - Coming off the bye week they are at home vs. Redskins.

11. Lions (4) - Stafford beat up, 2 running backs gone. Curse of the Lions seems to be coming back. Schedule gets tough coming up.

12. Bears (15) - Only a game behind the Lions. Give the ball to Forte and keep the ball rolling.

13. Bucs (10) - I'll give them a pass since they had to go to Europe, but this team needs to bring it every week.

14. Falcons (17) - Has won 2 in a row and only a game behind Saints.

15. Giants (14) - First place in the ugly NFC East.

16. Raiders (9) - If McFadden isn't 100% this team goes no where. I'll give a pass to Palmer, but how happy is this team to be on a bye?

17. Cowboys (20) - Beat the Rams, but who doesn't. Beat the Eagles this week, and then we will talk.

18. Bengals (18) - Coming off the bye they play the Seahawks. Could be 5-2.

19. Eagles (19) - Beat the Cowboys, and we can talk.

20. Panthers (22) - Only 2-5, but no one wants to play this team.

21. Chiefs (23) - Shhh, the Chiefs are only 1 game back in the AFC West.

22. Redskins (16) - Beck wasn't bad, but he wasn't great either.

23. Titans (21) - I give Hasselbeck a lot of praise, but he was terrible in this game. Oh, and has anyone seen Chris Johnson? Yea, me either.

24. Browns (25) - Congrats you won the ugliest game of the year.

25. Broncos (27) - Tebow did it. Now do it against not the worst team in the league.

26. Jags (29) - How you beat the Ravens I'll never know.

27. Vikings (28) - At least Ponder showed some talent.

28. Cardinals (26) - They have lost 5 in a row. Kolb era not looking so good.

29. Seahawks (24) - Congrats you lose the worst game of the year.

30. Rams (30) - You are a bad team, but at least Lloyd was decent (6 catches 74 yards).

31. Dolphins (32) - Thanks for me having to listen to Tebow stuff for the next week.

32. Colts (32) - Umm, so you gave up huh?

Gronkowski Going A Little Charlie Sheen On Us?

During the Patriots bye week Rob Gronkowski had a picture released of him and adult film star Bibi Jones (as seen above). Brady had to respond to these question on WEEI this morning...

"I would have guessed there would be pictures of him somehow with his shirt off, posing or something like that," joked Brady when asked about the incident. "I'm just glad I'm no longer the one people are making fun of on a daily basis. Gronk is definitely holding in the lead there."

Asked if Gronkowski would be summoned into the office of Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick, Brady said, "He probably already knows it's coming."

"Gronk is single, he's young and he's making his own decisions. It's hard for coach .. he talks to us every time we head out for an extended vacation about our decision-making. I'm sure he'll have something to say to Rob. The players will probably be asking more details the jersey that the girl was wearing or something like that (WEEI)."

All I can say is this girl is smoking. I would put up a bunch of picture, but being at work and looking up pornstars isn't the best idea. As for the Patriots, as long as he doesn't like fail a drug test or some up to practice late who the hell cares. I am sure Belichick won't be happy, but he really shouldn't be the one to talk shit after he stole his woman from another man.

Anyways, good for you Gronk, LIVING THE DREAM.

I'm Sorry But Joe Flacco Sucks

Joe Flacco is one of the worst QBs in the league. He constantly crumbles in big time games and the defense and run game has masked his shitty play. Flacco threw 2 300 yard games in a row before last night and the Ravens Coaches let him try and win the game throwing instead of running (a 38/12 differential) and he can't even get to 200 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In Flacco's biggest game in the playoffs against the Patriots, he threw 5(?) times.

We have been waiting for years for Joe Flacco to take the next step and hasn't. He can't make his team much better. To be honest, I would take Mark Sanchez over him in second, in fact, Mark Sanchez has already accomplished more than Flacco has in his career ad Sanchez isn't even that great so far.

The Flacco story is cute, he came from Delaware and 1-AA move, yet it has run it's course. The Ravens need to go out and get themselves a different QB this offseason because they are wasting Ray Lewis, Ed Reed's and Terrell Suggs best years.

Terrell Owens To Titans?

Terrell Owens is said to be 100% now and looking for work. The reason the Titans are being rumored is because the need a WR after the loss of Britt, and their coach has even said they will be hosting some tryouts. If Owens is healthy he really deserves a shot. Yes, he is a headache, but he did have a good year last season (983 yards 9 TDs), so he could be an asset to a team in need.

In a short season, I really don't see him being a locker room problem and from now on he will be working on 1 year deal. What might kill him is his reputation, but if I was a team and REALLY needed a WR I would try him out and see what he's got left.

Lions Lose Best For Season?

"NFL Insider Mike Freeman reported Thursday that Lions RB Jahvid Best has been advised by people close to him to "strongly consider sitting out the year" after suffering his second concussion of the season (CBS Sports)."

Best had to miss his final 4 games in college because of concussion issues, and this is his 2nd this season. It sounds as if it might be in his best interest to sit out the rest of the year. The Lions haven't even rules him out for this week yet, but it's starting to sound like it's just a matter of time.

For now Maurice Morris will take over as the starting RB. The Lions tried to trade for Ronnie Brown, but the trade fell through when it was found out that Jerome Harrison has some kind of health issue.

This isn't a killer blow for the Lions, but it will hurt. The rest of their RBs pretty much suck (as you can tell by them trying to trade for Ronnie Brown). Best wasn't just a factor in the running game (390 yards 4.6 avg), but also the passing game (27 catches 287 yards). That is going to be tough to replace.

Rex Grossman Era Is Over

I couldn't believe that Rex Grossman is on an NFL team let alone allowed to start, but it seems Mike Shanahan has stopped sniffing paint and come to his senses, as he named John Beck the starting QB.

I am not saying John Beck is great or even good, but he has a much better arm, and much better upside. Grossman is either decent or the worst, and the thing is this team has been playing well enough that if they can have a QB come out and be average they will have a good shot at winning games.

The Redskins went with Grossman because he has more experience, but in the end he just doesn't belong in the NFL. I don't know if Beck does, but at least there is a chance.

What is funny is to think of all the QB's the Redskins have gone through. CBS had a great list of all the QBs that have played for the Redskins since Dan Snyder took over as owner...

Brad Johnson
Jeff George
Tony Banks
Shane Matthews
Patrick Ramsey
Danny Wuerffel
Tim Hasselbeck
Mark Brunell
Jason Campbell
Todd Collins
Donovan McNabb
Rex Grossman
John Beck

Yuck.

NFL Power Rankings

1. Packers (1) - Game was over by half time, and the next two weeks won't change the power rankings with @Vikings then a bye.

2. Ravens (4) - Offense looked good against the Texans, while the defense did what it does best... stop the run.

3. Patriots (5) - Wasn't easy, and it wasn't Brady's best game (other then the last drive), but at least that defense shutdown a pretty damn good offense.

4. Lions (2) - Tough loss, but you're not going to win every game. They need the running game to be better, because having your QB throw 50 times isn't good. Could be tough with Best getting another concussion.

5. Chargers (6) - Coming off the bye week they get the Jets, who haven't looked all that great.

6. Steelers (7) - Another win, but this team has been far from impressive. Good sign if Mendenhall is beginning to roll.

7. Saints (3) - Tough loss to Tampa that puts them and the Bucs tied for first in the NFC South with Atlanta only a game behind.

8. 49ers (12) - Maybe San Fran is for real, and they have basically already punched their ticket for the playoffs.

9. Raiders (8) - Beat the Browns, but lost Campbell for maybe the year. They question is how long will it take Palmer to gel with this offense?

10. Bucs (14) - Huge win over the Saints, where was that against the 49ers?

11. Bills (9) - Lost to the Giants, but winning there can be tough. Give them credit they are way better then any of us thought.

12. Jets (13) - They beat the Dolphins, but Plaxico is a bust, and Sanchez is the most overrated QB in the league.

13. Texans (10) - They lost to the Ravens, but don't sleep on this team. Their division is weak, then they are playing without Andre Johnson.

14. Giants (15) - Now in first place in the NFC East despite having only +7 scoring differential.

15. Bears (16) - This team is annoying. They either look like a top 10 team or a bottom 10 team every week.

16. Redskins (11) - Will the real Rex Grossman please stand up, and he did. Goodbye.

17. Falcons (18) - Big win over the Panthers, and are only 1 back back of Saints/Bucs, but they still aren't playing very well.

18. Bengals (20) - You know who has the 2nd best defense in football right now? These guys.

19. Eagles (21) - Beat the overrated Redskins to save their season.

20. Cowboys (17) - Give the Cowboys credit, they played the Patriots tough, and the NFC East is wide open.

21. Titans (19) - First place in the AFC South, but they have a huge game with the Texans this week.

22. Panthers (22) - I keep saying that W/L's don't matter this year, which is true, but they could've won that game over Atlanta.

23. Cheifs (23) - Coming off the bye they play Oakland, with Oakland's QB problems maybe that's a good thing, since it could take more then a week to get Palmer into their offense.

24. Seahawks (24) - I hate this team, but if they beat the Browns next week they are 3-3.

25. Browns (26) - Madden curse meet Hillis' hamstring.

26. Cardinals (27) - Season is already over, and they get to play the Steelers next. Yuck.

27. Broncos (29) - It's Tebow time. At least the fans will be happy... for now.

28. Vikings (25) - Sure McNabb hasn't been winning, but the problems on this team run deeper. They are better then this.

29. Jags (30) - Played the Steelers tough, but 1-5 is 1-5.

30. Rams (28) - They didn't even show up to play the Packers. Hopefully Lloyd helps Bradford out a bit, but he has been far from impressive.

31. Colts (31) - Suck for Luck, Suck for Luck.

32. Dolphins (32) - Suck for Luck, Suck for Luck.

Breaking News: Carson Palmer On His Way To Oakland

Oakland and Cincinnati are on the verge of completing a deal for holdout quarterback Carson Palmer in exchange for two first-round picks (The first first-round pick is in 2012 and the other is a conditional first-round pick in 2013). Yes, this gives the Raiders the QB they needed, but that is a very steep price. They could've got Garrard (or someone) to fill the void for the year, and now they are going to give 2 1st round picks for Palmer.

Maybe it will work out, and this will get the Raiders into the playoffs, but that I think that was a lot of give up. Palmer really hasn't a great year since 2006, and he had a lot more WR talent to work with in Cincy, then he will in Oakland. Plus, now the Raiders have 1 picks in the first 4 round of next years draft (remember they traded their second, fourth and seventh-round picks away already).

If Palmer somehow turns into the QB everyone thought he would be then fine this deal could be good, but right now I am going to say the Bengals got the better of this deal.

Give the Bengals credit. They wouldn't cave on Palmer and got exactly what they wanted. Dalton looks like he could be a decent QB. Green is a great WR, and now they have 2 more first round picks over the next two years to build around them. Good job by the Bengals.
